Putin Gives World Cup Ball to Trump
Russian President Vladimir Putin handed a World Cup ball to US President Donald Trump during their meeting in Helsinki, Finland. The ball as a sign that the US will be one of the host 2026 World Cup with Mexico and Canada. In fact, before that, Qatar will first host the 2022 World Cup.
"President Trump has just praised the 2018 World Cup. So I'm giving you this ball, I hope the United States is ready to host 2026 later," Putin said, quoted by the Guardian on Tuesday (17/7).
Receiving the ball, Trump said it would give it to his son, Baron Trump. "We will do very well and we hope everything goes well," Trump said. However, not everyone is happy with the giving of Putin to Trump.
The reason, allegedly in the ball there are recording devices so that all the secrets of the country can be heard Russia. South Carolina State Senator Lindsey Graham even said that the ball needed to be checked first and should not be allowed to be placed in the White House.
In line with Graham, former White House press secretary of George W. Bush era, Ari Fleischer, said that the Secret Service should check the ball carefully before being taken to Washington.
